Professional History

For the past seven years, I have provided effective and supportive therapeutic services to adults, children, adolescents, families and couples in large institutions as well as in my private practice.

My professional career began at the University of Colorado at Boulder where I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and minor in Business Administration in 2006. I conducted behavioral research in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at CU from 2006 to 2009. During that time, I co-authored three research manuscripts published in peer reviewed journals and co-authored six research presentations offered at national and international professional conferences.

I made the decision to pursue graduate training to become a therapist after finding that the most rewarding part of my job as a researcher was interacting with and counseling research participants. I earned my Master’s of Social Work with an emphasis in clinical social work from the University of Denver in 2011. I was the sole recipient of the OMNI Research Award for my work during my internship training.

Most recently, I co-founded the Slim for Survival program at Shaw Regional Cancer Center. Slim for Survival provides a targeted weight loss intervention for cancer survivors who decrease risk of recurrence and improve quality of life through achieving a healthy body weight and maintaining regular exercise. My role as the director, therapist, and group facilitator for this program is vital to the success of participants.
