Therapy Process

The most important factor to successful psychotherapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. As with most relationships, our rapport builds and strengthens over time. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to provide the client the opportunity to meet me and ask questions about the therapeutic process and therapeutic relationship. I am pleased to offer general recommendations and referrals. When you choose to pursue therapy with me, I ask you to complete a series of questionnaires in order for me to gain complete information. I review this information with you in the next session. This information allows me to better personalize recommendations and collaborate with you in formulating therapy goals. Therapy goals are highly subjective and dependent on your needs and desired outcomes. Most often, sessions occur 1-2 times per week initially and taper down in frequency over time. Sometimes only 6-8 sessions are needed. However, greater benefit can often be gained from a longer duration of therapy.
